What are National Qualifications Subjects

The National Qualifications are the Post GCSE Curriculum Subject Scores that are awarded by the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Examination and Equivalent Higher Education Subject Scores. There are two types of National Qualifications, they are C/S and H/S.

C/S National Qualifications: This National Qualification is a set of General Level exams taken by 16 and 17-year-olds at the end of the 5th Year in secondary schools. This subject set contains 14 GCSEs including English, Maths, and Science

H/S National Qualifications: This National Qualification is a set of Higher Level exams taken by 18 and 19-year-olds at the end of the 6th Year in post-secondary schools.

National 5

Candidates who plan to take up the university entrance test for 2021/22 may choose this subject. It is a compulsory subject in Grade 10 in KCSE but many may find it difficult. This subject is mainly about calculations, taking and correcting log tables, reading and comprehension of mathematical and logical problems.

Higher Level

National 6

A candidate may opt for this subject which is taken by students who want to further their studies in university. In the previous years, the students of KCSE were able to go through University education with this subject. It is a compulsory subject in Grade 10 in KCSE.

Advanced Higher

National 7

Candidates who plan to take up the university entrance test for 2021/22 may choose this subject. It is a compulsory subject in Grade 10 in KCSE.

Accreditation/Registration

The name of National Qualifications in Ghana is provided by the Accreditation Board of Ghana Education Service (ABECS). The Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders associated with education have jointly established the Accreditation Board of Ghana Education Service in August 2004 to monitor and oversee the quality and standard of education in the country. It’s quite an important issue because it affects your future. A student whose results are not registered may not be able to take a National Diploma(ND). All the National Qualifications have to be registered by the Ghana Education Service.

Advanced Higher Level

Advanced Higher Level is definitely a very complex level because it offers a variety of opportunities and some complicated coursework. A lot of students are planning to undertake A Levels and most of them are planning to be more successful in it and it is the very important subject which is usually taken up by the students in a high school. It is sometimes also termed as A levels, higher and A levels. There are some famous universities like Oxford and Cambridge who take admission for the students who clear it successfully. Most of the prominent universities use the grades of A* and A level.
